Today we worked on the ROV Research task. Jenny delegated questions for everyone to research and I had the question "What is an ROV?". When we completed this task we did the "The Challenge" page task. In this task we had to describe one of the four challenges and take any measurements necessary. Next class we will have a meeting to make sure all team members are familiar with the challenges and how an ROV works.

Today we had an interview with Mrs. S to review the parts of the ROV and what they do/are used for. Then I watched videos on soldering and making the control box. Then Mrs. S gave us a safety debrief for using the soldering iron. She then gave us a practice circuit board to practice soldering on. We started this but did not finish. Next class, Tessa and I will finish soldering the practice circuit board. Then I will start building my real circuit board.

Today I started to solder the control box. I had to pause so that I could solder the copper wire onto the motors. Then I continued to solder the control box. Next class I will continue to solder and build the control box.

Today I continued to work on the control box. Before putting on the final screws I tested it with Mrs. S and it worked! Next class we will work on the design drawings.

Today we finished attaching the propellers to the frame of the ROV. Then we started testing in the kiddy pool to make sure everything worked. We started buying things for our hydraulic arm and next class will test out the things we bought.

Today we finalized our ROV. We tested in the kiddy pool to make sure that the hydraulic arm worked and then we came inside to attach the velcro to our ROV so that we can attach the camera to it next class period. Next class we will test the ROV at the pool. Yessia researched for the Fish ID task. She created a shared Google Doc that included the common name and a picture of the fish so that everyone can study from it.
